Case Study:

Using Data to Tell the EV Story

The Challenge

A promising startup in a fast-growing field, Stable Auto needed to elevate its profile as a provider of valuable data and services to the EV charging industry. In addition to being a new entrant into the field, Stable Faced a lack of awareness and sophistication in the market: many EV charger owners take a “set it and forget it” approach to siting and operating their installations.

Stable Auto needed to capitalize on its unique value proposition to build up its brand recognition and educate potential customers about its services. One factor working in Stable’s favor was the industry-wide problem of underperforming EV charging stations, with the majority of chargers in the U.S. being underutilized and unprofitable. Through its data collection and analysis as well as its SaaS offerings, Stable could take a big bite of that problem, and needed charging station owners to know it.

The Solution

To enhance Stable Auto's brand and earn somemedia recognition, Redwood started by building strong relationships with reporters and industry analysts covering climate, EV infrastructure, transportation, and electrification. The team set up introductory conversations between Stable’s founder and key reporters, including meetings at top-tier industry events. An introduction facilitated by Redwood at a San Francisco event laid the groundwork for coverage of Stable Auto in Bloomberg.

After laying the foundation for media coverage, Redwood began crafting outreach campaigns that offered up-to-the-minute data and analysis generated by Stable. These data-oriented campaigns led to over a dozen media hits, including many within Stable Auto’s target geographies. Redwood expanded on the initial wave of coverage by working with Axios to generate featured coverage of location-based data from Stable in 15 Axios Local outlets. The appearance of Stable Auto’s data in top-tier national and local media significantly advanced the company’s goals of boosting brand awareness and establishing credibility in the EV charging industry.
